Wedding Preparation for Different Types of Weather

The Barn at Belle Hills • Feb 01, 2024

As you prepare for your wedding, you may worry about if the weather will be nice and clear. To make your day the best possible, The Barn at Belle Hills has prepared a list of ways to prepare for different types of weather you may experience in Kentucky, and no, you don't have to make any special preparations for a nice 70-degree day with lots of sun.

The four seasons

Kentucky experiences all four seasons, meaning the weather can vary monthly. December through February boasts cold temperatures, especially recently, and you may even see snow. At other times of year, you should be ready for warm rain showers, such as during March through May. During the summer, June through August, you may see hot, dry, sunny days when the temperature reaches the 90s and 100s. Finally, cold rains can make outdoor events difficult from September through November.

Even though the weather is constantly changing, you can prepare yourself and your guests with valuable tips for wedding dress codes based on the weather. But, if all else fails, we offer an expansive indoor space to host your wedding as part of a reservation.

Rain and wind

While many people love the rain and wind, having a downpour on your wedding day isn't ideal. Even so, you and your wedding party can prepare for some light rain and wind in several ways:

  • Brides and bridesmaids: Wear water-proof makeup, invest in some ways to tie down or tie back your hair, and wear clothes that can handle a light breeze without much motion.
  • Grooms and groomsmen: It's helpful to have ways to tie long hair down or back that match your outfit and to wear material that can handle some light rain.
  • Guests: Everyone can benefit from water-resistant clothing and outfits that don't move too much in a light breeze. Most can also benefit from keeping an umbrella ready.

While clothing, shoes, and tools like umbrellas are all useful, you can also invest in a large tent or canopy to keep the rain and wind away from you and your guests. Even better, consider our indoor space.

Chilly, cold weather

You should prepare for the cold if your wedding is in the fall or winter. Encourage everyone to wear thick, warm outfits with windbreakers to keep any chilly breeze from freezing your guests. Have a canopy or tent ready to keep everyone dry in rain or snow. Finally, consider getting portable space heaters to warm the inside of a pavilion.

When the heat is too much

You may contend with long, hot, sunny days for weddings at the peak of summer. To prepare accordingly, consider wearing light, breathable, and movable materials that limit how much you sweat. You can also wear plenty of sunscreen to protect you from the sun. Like every other season, you can get a large canopy, tent, pavilion, and our convenient barn to give everyone a comfortable experience.
