2023 Wedding Trends We Know You’ll Fall For

The Barn at Belle Hills • March 22, 2023

We saw significant shifts in wedding trends in 2022. Couples began moving away from the farmhouse, ivory, and greenery theme that was so popular in the late 2010s in place of more formal events or ceremonies and receptions that show off their personalities. This shift will likely continue into 2023, so what new trends will emerge from it?

Candid Wedding Photos

Long gone are the days of overly posed wedding portraits featuring every single member of the family. While those photos can be a nice way to remember everyone that celebrated your special day with you, modern photographers are choosing more genuine photography styles. By capturing candid images, you can immortalize the feelings and energy surrounding your day rather than simply capturing still moments.

Day-of Phone Coordinator

Possibly one of the newest trends, we predict that many 2023 brides will be adding a day-of phone coordinator to their vendor list. This person holds the bride’s and/or groom’s phone throughout the day to capture in-the-moment photos, post on social media, and field texts and calls appropriately. The happy couple has so much to focus on throughout the day. Any way to alleviate their stress while also creating special memories is a worthwhile investment.

Unconventional Guest Books

Individuality will be one of the main themes of 2023 weddings. What better way to imbue creativity into your day than by choosing a unique guest book idea? Recently married couples have been loving voicemail guest books, in which wedding guests call a number and leave a “voicemail” for the couple to listen to later. Other fun ideas include polaroid photos, Jenga pieces, and having guests sign a welcome sign!

Color and maximalist Decor

Color is one of the most essential factors in determining a wedding theme. In fact, the wedding theme is often just a color palette. 2021 and 2022 saw a rise in pinks and maroons being featured, and 2023 is here to expand upon that. Bright, bold shades will take the spotlight this coming year, and maximalist decor will happily accompany these fun hues. Choose a wedding venue with a neutral color palette to help your decor pop!

Private Last Dance

As much as we love celebrating weddings with our closest loved ones, the day is about the couple. This special sentiment is not lost on 2022 and 2023 couples, many of whom are adding a private last dance into their itinerary. As the guests arrange to end the night with a sendoff, the couple stays inside to enjoy one more private dance together. Many brides and grooms savor this moment and use it to take in all the day's events.
