4 Hacks to a Fun Corporate Event

The Barn at Belle Hills • March 29, 2023

Whether you’re celebrating a successful year or are looking for the right place for a business dinner, take the work out of planning a work party with these four hacks for a fun corporate event:

01. Know Your Purpose

Why are you bringing your company together? Will your event involve team-building exercises, an award ceremony, meetings, or training?

At its most basic, a corporate event should result in learning something. Those attending should know more about their coworkers, a new product, or their company goals and values than they did before the event. Pinning down the purpose of your event allows you to plan accordingly: throwing a company picnic won’t be the same as putting together a seminar, but both provide the chance to build rapport within the workplace—by being outside of it.

02. Get a great location

A corporate event is an opportunity to get out of the office and mingle with coworkers outside the five-foot radius of the communal water cooler. Once you’ve decided on your event, you’ll need an appropriate location. It’s also important to know by now how many people are attending—you can’t hold a whole-company award ceremony in a twelve-person meeting room.

Fortunately, The Barn at Belle Hills has 3000 square feet of indoor space—complete with modern amenities like heating and cooling—and is surrounded by eight acres of private land: more than enough space for you and your team. Our barn’s contemporary interior is upscale enough for any professional development activities you may plan, and our eight acres of fields are perfect for even the largest company picnic. Furthermore, our barn is accessible, so everyone can be comfortable and welcome.

03. Create excitement

It’s the key to fun corporate events. The word ‘corporate’ doesn’t immediately evoke enthusiasm but throw in a surprise, dim the lights—if your event is more casual, consider a theme—and you’ve got people intrigued by what you’re presenting. Use a game to get people talking and throw in a competition to get people working together. Making a corporate event more social keeps it livelier and feeling less like another day at work.

With our open floor plan, the Barn at Belle Hills allows you to customize your event to your company. Feel free to utilize our space to the fullest. We have signage, tables, and chairs available, and we encourage you to decorate for your occasion!

04. Feed Your People

Simple, yet effective. Food is a universal people-pleaser and immediately helps to curate a positive experience during your event—hungry coworkers don’t equal company harmony. Food encourages people to stay and get involved in your event (conversation is easy when it involves a cookie). Consider catering food or setting up snacks, especially if your event is longer than a few hours. The Barn at Belle Hills has a bar and prep kitchen ideal for setting up any event catering, so you can bring plenty of food to fuel your event.
